June 21 - Hiking Day

The mountains in the morning.
We met The Guy's younger brother, W, and his family in Lauterbrunnen.  We're vacationing with them for a few days before we go to their house in France to spend almost a week.

We decided to go hiking today.  We are in the alps after all.  We did cheat however and take a tram and a train to the top of the mountain(to Murren) and then we hiked down the mountain.

Sweetie, L, and Woof-woof on the train. (Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the tram.  If Megs did, I'll link to her blog later and you can see them.)
W & L looking out the window on the train.
You can see that the men were working hard to get the kids in order for a picture.  It didn't work out so well.  This is the best I got.  Crazy boys!
Megs and I at the top of the mountain.
The first thing we found while walking through Murren was a playground.  Of course we had to stop and let the kids play for awhile.
The Little One is loving playgrounds.  They give her a chance to not be on someone's back.
Sweetie found a "big wish flower".  He was pretty cute trying to blow it - it wouldn't blow...
 The Little One and I.
 M & L hiking along.
This path along the train was the first part of our hike.  Easy peasy.  We did finally get on a real trail.
With five kids in tow, eating is a major activity.  This bridge was the flattest place we could find on the trail to eat lunch.
 Lunch.  Yum!
About halfway down the mountain we came upon this lovely meadow.  (It made me think of Heidi.)  The view of the mountains(Jung Frau, Eiger & Monch) was incredible.  (Unfortunately my camera was no match for the clouds vs snow - it all looks white...)

Family picture.  The Little One is on my back sleeping.  Poor girl, she's going to think that we never took her anywhere... ;)

 M, W, L & L.
It's so nice to travel with family and have people for all of us to talk to(or play with).

The Guy and I!
What do you do after a long hike?  Eat ice cream of course!
 L loved her ice cream!
Woof-woof cleaning up her ice cream mess.
And what else do you do after a long hike?

Cool those feet off in the stream!
Some people even cooled their bodies!
And some just took their clothes off to get cool.
L decided to try chapstick on her chin to get cool.

We had a great day hiking.  It's been too long since we've taken a good hike.  We're going to have to plan more hiking in our future.  And maybe we'll even try going up the hill first next time!
