We started the Freestone family visit with a trip to "The Bells". First we climbed to the top of Rockefeller Chapel and saw the carillon and gorgeous views of Hyde Park, and then we had a lovely picnic while listening to the weekly Sunday concert.
Monday we hit up the Museum of Science and Industry.
We showed them all of our favorite things. We all especially enjoyed the flying machines, making liquid nitrogen ice cream, the circus mirrors, seeing who was the most relaxed, and jolly ball.
Tuesday we got high! They braved the Skydeck and we all enjoyed the views.
Wednesday we started with donuts at our favorite shop and then explored the city.
Eloise and I spent some time waiting for the Triple A guy to get me back into our car while everyone else visited Millennium park and the bean.
Then we met up and hit up Navy Pier where I made them ride the ferris wheel. The views of the city from there are amazing.
Then Abbey, Dedee and I ended the day with an architectural boat tour. It was amazing.
(And many thanks to Brad for taking all of the rest of the kids to dinner while we did that.)
Thursday dawned bright and early with a trip to the farmers market to do some city foraging for food. The kids enjoyed the park and practiced their whistling skills while I foraged. :)
We then enjoyed a delicious breakfast together, including a cantaloupe eating competition between Adelle and Peyton - he won, but she gave him a run for his money.
Then they had to head back toward Utah.
We loved having them and hope they'll come again!
