It was a hot, hot day. The little girls were sweating before we even started.
Okay, they actually weren't this wet - The Guy just helped them cool off a bit. We felt as if we were transported to a different world.
Well, at least a different country and a place a little closer to where we all grew up.
Nestled in the Petit Luberon is the town of Roussillon. It is known for it's ochre hills that they mine to make the Provencal pottery that reddish orange that it is so well known for.
L-bean and Megs walking through the ochre hills. It is amazing how much it felt like we were in Southern Utah. And so amazing that it is just this little valley nestled in this little mountain range that looks like this.
Where is his body? Oh wait! He's just wearing orange like the hills. And Woof-woof became obsessed with maps on this trip(it's been good - it's how we get her to walk somewhere - she's the leader and has to tell us from the map where to go).
Even the Little One enjoyed the orange dirt.
We enjoyed our hike.
The girls hiking together.
Sweetie and I with one last look over the hills.
Then we headed to the water fountain to wash up.
And we needed ice cream to cool us off.
I tried out the lavender ice cream(Provence is also known for it's lavender production). It was so delicious. I loved the color and the flavor.
L-bean liked the ice cream too!
And The Little One just ate the bicycle lock. Poor girl, her parents should give her some food.
We drove back to Megs and West's house and saw some more villages in the Petite Luberon. The villages are all nestled on mountain tops. It's really fun to see them as you're driving along. Megs and the kids had to prepare to leave the next morning to go to Utah to visit her family for the summer.
