To put it into perspective for all you west coast-ers used to snow:
~Last weekends storm of 24 - 28 inches - second largest snowfall in Philly's history.
~Wednesdays storm added 12-18 inches to that(it was hard to get a good count on top of the other snow) - most snow to EVER fall in one winter in Philly.
As for how we fared, our blizzard went something like this:
THIS:
Led to this:
This was half-way through the storm. It was so beautiful.
And this:
The kids enjoyed sledding down the driveway!
And this:
What else were we going to do with all of that snow? I seriously considered building a long row of snowmen down our driveway. Unfortunately or fortunately The Guy was much too fast at shoveling for that.
And finally this:
24 hours later and we finally got our power back on. The kids enjoyed it for about 20 minutes and then they were done. Luckily we have a gas stove, so we were able to cook and make plenty of hot chocolate to keep us warm!

Looks like you guys had some fun in a bad situation. I'm glad you got power back.
My dad used to turn the power off in our house for 2 or 3 days to teach us about emergency preparedness. (Did yours? Is this a family thing?) But we didn't have 5 feet of snow outside when we did this.
Wow! That's amazing! It does look like you found some fun in it. Was it coooooooold in your house with the power out???
It looks beautiful from a distance, which is the way I always like my snow. We've been in the upper 70s and 80s for the last few days. Shorts anyone?
I've got to gloat a bit to compensate for the high cost of living and housing in SoCal.
Beautiful and a big pain in the rear as well.
